What would happen if the gaze lost its object – if it were to be subtracted, so to speak, from the object?
Starting out from this slightly absurd sounding question, I begin to fold papers systematically, at first twice, then four times, eight times and so on until it is no longer possible using my bare hands.
I punch out a small and a larger circle from each of these folded and then smoothed out papers. Doing this, I ask myself: What is important? Concentration on the object, or on what surrounds it? I place the punched-out circles into containers that I have folded using the same type of paper.
